Saudi Aramco plans to increase production of raw gas to 15.5 billion cubic foot in 2015 Choosing “Samsung Engineering Co. Ltd.” for natural gas liquids program in Sheba,
Yesterday, Saudi Aramco announced that it chose Samsung Engineering Co. Ltd. to execute engineering works and buying the materials for turnkey program of natural gas liquids in Sheba in the far South East of Rub' Al Khali. Aramco didn't announce the contract value and stated that it's a lump sum. Earlier, some resources announced that the project value will be 5 to 6 billion dollars. Sheba project is supposed to process 2.4 billion cubic foot of low-sulfur gas daily. 264 thousand barrel of natural gas liquids will be transferred daily to be retailed in Ja'ima substation. Aramco had received four bids regarding the natural gas liquids program in Sheba. Yesterday it chose Samsung Engineering Co. Ltd. to start the project in 2014 which will contribute to the increasing demands for natural gas in KSA. Samsung had suggested some offers for the four companies in order to construct a power station, gas-processing establishment, natural gas liquids restore stations and facilities and utilities for gas processing and rehabilitation of gas-separation stations in Sheba. The main constructions will be covered by constructing feeding input utilities, natural gas liquids extraction utilities, drainage, returned gas pressure and acid gas, storing and loading natural gas liquids and developing the utilities of gas extraction factories to extract it from the current four oils in Sheba in addition to its utilities. This contract includes a developing project in order to increase the electricity capacity to 1 giga watt by installing 4 double and 7 monocycle units in addition to extending electricity transmission line (230 kilovolt) along 50 km with its electrical and non-electrical utilities. Along with its commitment to supply the national market with gas, Aramco is building a new factory to extract natural gas liquids in Sheba, Rub' Al Khali. This factory will receive the product of 2400 million cubic foot of gas extraction from oil daily from Sheba in order to extract high-value natural gas liquids. It's expected that Aramco will increase raw gas production to 15.5 billion cubic foot daily in 2015. Sheba and Waset fields are the biggest projects of natural gas which Aramco had declared in 2009. Early in 2011, it started to hold agreements with international companies to construct Waset project which costs 8 billion dollars, and S. K Co. had won that contract while Samsung committed construct the common power stations. Aramco reserve is supposed to be 275.4 trillion cubic foot in 2009 – the 5th biggest reserve in the whole world – half of these reserves are oil fields. Gas local consumption increased to be 5% to 6% annually because of the large demand for electricity and petrochemicals production.
