MAKKAH — Two prisoners sentenced to death after being convicted of murder were saved from the executioner's sword thanks to the intervention of Makkah Emir Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The family of the Yemeni victim Ibrahim Mastur pardoned Saudi national Badar Al-Hadli following an appeal from Prince Khaled, who is also chairman of the board of the reconciliation committee at the Makkah governorate. Meanwhile, the family of Abdul Raheem Shaafa, an expatriate, pardoned Saudi national Anees Ahmad, also complying with Prince Khaled's request. Nasser Al-Zahrani, executive president of the committee, said the committee has so far handled more than 30,000 cases and managed to win pardon in more than 310 cases.
