DOHA — Saudi Arabia booked their place in the Arab Cup quarterfinals after defeating Comoros 3-1 on Friday in their Group B Matchweek 2 encounter. The victory lifted the Green Falcons to six points at the top of the group, two clear of Morocco in second place, with the two sides set to meet in the final round of the group stage. Comoros remain bottom with no points, while Oman sit third with one. Saudi fans turned out in large numbers, creating an electric atmosphere throughout the match. Mohammed Kanno put Saudi Arabia ahead four minutes into first-half stoppage time, before doubling the lead in the 51st minute. Comoros pulled one back through Erriheim Youssouf in the 63rd minute, but Salem Al Dawsari restored the two-goal cushion with a brilliant solo effort in the 76th minute, carrying the ball from near midfield and finishing despite desperate defensive attempts to stop him. Saudi Arabia will aim to complete the group stage with a perfect record when they meet Morocco next.
