Caltex, AVK Wild Boys, Almabani prevail

JEDDAH — Caltex of Joseph Hernandez beat Diet Center 78-65 in the Orient Watch-JBL Basketball Tournament at Bin Mahfouz basketball court here recently.
The winner played its offensive pattern well in the second half, while the loser bungled in the final quarter. Ricky Reloj scored 17 points for the winner and was adjudged the Orient Watch Best Player. Rudolf Arabia made 27 points for the loser.
The major sponsor of the tournament is Orient Watch-Al-Hussaini and Al-Yahya Investment Group (Othman Al-Hussaini). It is also supported by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN-The Filipino Channel, Flash Cargo (Arnold Dela Cruz), Saudi Signs (Sam Adora) and Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi).
MTTS of Omar and Ricky Sedrome scored over Tony's Basketeers 76-66. The winner applied zone defense in the final quarter to keep the rivals at bay. Tadeo hit 18 points for the winner and was named the Giordano Best Player, while Catalino topscored with 25 points for the loser.
AVK Wild Boys of Jolly Tilo defeated Pinoy Jeddah Group 68-57. The winner displayed good running game in second quarter. Whereas the newcomer to the scene Pinoy Jeddah Group missed several easy baskets in the final quarter.
Gado scored 14 points for the winner and was selected as the JBL Best Player, while Trazo contributed 21 points for the loser.
Almabani of Vic Carreon beat Duduts Internet Cafe 86-71. It was a championship game atmosphere in the whole game as both teams had their own cheering squads to boost their morale. The winner was unstoppable in the fourth quarter. Meting led the winner with 27 points and was adjudged the Saudi Sign Best Player. Ricky Reloj scored 28 points for the loser.
Mr. Food Stuff of Manuel Cabansag and Ray Mangohig defeated Nimu 68-61. The loser was ahead upto the third quarter but was overtaken by the winner in the final quarter with good offensive plays. Castillo and Soriano converted 19 points apiece for the winner and were named the JBL Best Players.
Masapol made 14 points for the loser.
Naghi event
Dennis Elmenzo of Team Hyundai Centenial and Herman Cara of Team Fuddruckers started to check the participating teams' lineup for the 3rd MYNM Inter-Naghi division. The official team line-up: Team Hyundai Centennial, Team Fuddruckers, Team BMW, Team LG, Team Chilis, Team Hyundai Genesis, Team Al-Naghi, Team Jaguar. Team coordinators also confirmed that Adrian Bulacan will reinforce Team Hyundai Genesis to cope up with the strong line-up of other MYNM teams.
