JEDDAH – Brabley Braves of Hercky Mendoza prevailed over STC Terabytes 86-82 in the JBL Basketball Tournament at the Bin Mahfouz basketball court here.
The winner managed to stop the running game of STC in the final quarter.
Alturas topscored for the winner with 20 points and was adjudged the Giordano best player while Sonny Soreta had 15 points for the loser.
This tournament is sponsored by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN - The Filipino Channel, Saudi Signs (Sam Adora), Al-Haddaf Sportswear (Bayoumi), Wael Sports Wear (Noel) and Arabian Food Supplies.
Six teams from MY Naghi Group of Companies paraded in their colorful uniforms during the opening ceremony. This event has the support of Arabian Food Supplies Catering & Support Services (Ahmad Miri, General Manager), Antoine Gergi Awwad (Operation Manager), Ghaleb Najjar (Project Manager Western Region), Assad Khalil (Project Manager Eastern Region), Mohamed Mohammady (Hyundai Warranty Manager), Ali Sabra (Tike Restaurant) and Hossam El Nabulsy (Chillis).
Awards for the Best Team in Uniform went to Mini Cooper and the Best Mascots to Denise Elmenzo (Hyundai Genesis) and Julien Esquivias (United Naghi).
Hyundai Genesis of Dennis Elmenzo beat Tike Taste of Istanbul Restaurant 58-56. Dennis Elmenzo's outside snipping earned 14 points for the winner and was adjudged the Giordano best player while Tom Francisco led Tike Restaurant with 19 points.
Fuddruckers of Elmer Delos Santos defeated Chillis 68-62. Marlon Melendez, who topscored with a career-high 30 points for the winner, was adjudged the JBL best player while RJ Flavier scored 14 points for the loser.
Mini Cooper of Rommel Juco beat United Naghi 56-47. The winner dominated the shaded area in the final quarter to outsmart the loser. Sherwin Cabading scored 17 points for the winner and was adjudged the JBL best player while Jobert Recayo scored 16 points for the loser.
MODA of Bhoyet Tordecilla defeated JDC 55-49. Reynold Borceque topscored with 17 points for MODA and was adjudged Wael Sports best player while Jameel Lumanog scored 14 points for JDC.
Al-Muhaidib of Pablo Viscayno beat Mahmoud Gharib 75-67. Gary Fadernal scored 29 points for the winner and was adjudged TFC best player while Jasper Jonas scored 25 points for the loser.
Saudi Diyar of Jeffrey Esperanza won against Rabya 20-0 in a no-show.
