RIYADH — The Saudi Council of Ministers praised the results of Monday's Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit, hoping that it would contribute to strengthening joint action and continuing cooperation with the international community to stop the war on the Gaza Strip, in a way that achieves security and stability in the region. Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman chaired the Cabinet session in Riyadh on Tuesday.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency following the session, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said that the Cabinet discussed the contents of the summit and the overall meetings of the Crown Prince with leaders of a number of countries.
The Council reiterated the Kingdom's support for the brothers in Palestine and Lebanon to overcome the catastrophic humanitarian consequences resulting from the Israeli aggression. It called on the countries of the world to join the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, launched by the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee headed by Saudi Arabia, and in cooperation with the European Union and Norway.
The Cabinet welcomed the signing of the Tripartite Mechanism Document among the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab League and the African Union Commission aimed to Support Palestine.
At the outset of the session, the Crown Prince briefed the Council on the content of his talks with Iran's President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and the phone call with the US President-elect Donald Trump during which he emphasized the Kingdom's aspiration to strengthen the historical and strategic relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States.
The Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom's contributions and initiatives in support of international multilateral action, to be more effective and rapid in addressing the challenges of the present and the future and responding to urgent issues at the global level in a way that consolidates development and prosperity and strengthens common cultural and social ties. The Council referred to what the Kingdom emphasized during its participation in international meetings held over the past few days regarding the importance it attaches to enhancing cooperation with all countries of the world, consolidating aspects of joint coordination in various fields, and continuing its humanitarian and development role in helping the most needy countries and peoples affected by natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
Al-Dossary stated that the Council affirmed the Kingdom's interest in supporting cultural communication between different cultures around the world, expressing in this context its gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the "Arab Week at UNESCO" initiative launched by the Kingdom at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.
On the domestic front, members of the Cabinet appreciated the Crown Prince's reception of the Saudi medical team that succeeded in performing the first full robotic heart transplant in the world, and his continuous support for national competencies and enabling them to achieve leadership in all fields, based on the fact that the human being is the axis and foundation of development.
The Council praised the outcome of the Riyadh Biban 24 Forum that witnessed signing of agreements and launches worth more than SR35.4 billion to support entrepreneurship in a number of sectors, and achieving national targets in raising the contribution of small and medium enterprises to the gross domestic product.
The Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi government and the Islamic Development Bank for cooperation in implementing the initiatives of the Oil Sustainability Program.
It authorized Minister of Education to frame the rules and regulations regarding the Saudi School Sports Federation. The Cabinet endorsed that the application of the Official Communications Regulation and the preservation of documents and their information shall be indicative for a period of one year from the date of its taking into effect.
