Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty became the first major candidate to quit the race for the US opposition presidential nomination when he announced Sunday that he would withdraw. Six months before the start of state-by-state intra-party elections, Pawlenty told ABC News, "I'm going to be ending my campaign for president."
