Saudi Arabia To Host FIBA 3X3 World Tour Finals in Jeddah on 17-18, December 2021
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 13 - 12 - 2021

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has become a known destination for major sports events. Just shortly after dazzling the world by hosting the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix at global standards, the Ministry of Sport, in coordination with the Saudi Basketball Federation (SBF), is set to host FIBA 3x3 World Tour Finals in Jeddah on the 17-18 December 2021. This global basketball event is under the supervision of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), where the best 12 teams from around the globe will compete.
The goal behind hosting global events of this magnitude is the continuous and diligent work towards achieving the objectives of "Quality of Life" program, a Vision 2030 Realization programs. In 2019, Saudi Arabia hosted one of FIBA's 3X3 tours, and the success of the organization led to choosing Saudi Arabia to host 2020 World Tour Finals, which was amid the exceptional circumstances of the pandemic.
In his statement to the press on the occasion, the President of SBF, Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi, said: "We are pleased that Saudi Arabia has become a destination to host such great international events, which is a continuation of the Kingdom's endeavor to host various global sporting events. We are blessed to live in an era where our wise leadership is providing endless support to all sports' sectors, aiming to make Saudi Arabia a destination for major sports events throughout the year. The continuous care, attention, and follow up provided by Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, Minister of Sports and President of Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, to all sports federations is a motivation that encourages us to do our best and honor Saudi Arabia globally."
Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi added: "For the third time, formidable teams are present in FIBA 3X3 World Tour in Saudi Arabia, after hosting one of the rounds in 2019, and the World Tour Finals in 2020. There is no doubt that the excellence and experience shown by Saudi youth in previous organizations for such sporting events was a key factor for Saudi Arabia to be chosen once again to host this global tournament in particular, and other sporting events in general."
