US stocks closed higher on Monday, with the Dow Jones industrial average and the Standard & Poor's 500 ending at new records. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 26.32, or 0.14 percent, to 18,298.88. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index climbed 6.47, or 0.30 percent, to 2,129.20. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index moved up 30.15, or 0.60 percent, to 5,078.44. The US dollar gained more than 1 percent after posting five straight weeks of losses. Light sweet crude oil for June delivery dropped 26 cents to $59.43 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures added $2.30 to $1,227.60 an ounce.
