Riyadh Fighters and Punjab Stars lift RCA crowns

RIYADH — Riyadh Fighters and Punjab Stars emerged champions in Hayer and Diriyah leagues respectively in the RCA MoneyGram CKB 2015 here.

In the T20 Hayer League final, Riyadh Fighters cruised to a thrilling 6-wicket victory over Pak Eagles. Pak Eagles piled up 199-3. Altaf scored 116 and Farooq 44. Bilal took 2 wickets. Riyadh Fighters reached home on last ball. Tahmia top scored with 53, while Hameed and Nusrat contributed 40 and 37, respectively. Zubair took 2 wickets. Man of the Match: Tahmia.

In the T20 Diriyah League final, Punjab Stars trounced Nouman Gymkhana by 9 wickets. Nouman Gymkhana piled up 193-8. Aftab top scored with 72, while Izhar contributed 30, Majid 22 and Anwar 20. Asif and Touseef shared 3 wickets each. Punjab Stars chased the target in 18.3 overs. Zaheer, Yasif and Sagheer scored 65, 61 and 55, respectively. Majid took the only wicket to fall. Man of the Match: Zaheer.

A prize distribution ceremony was held after the finals. Kit bags were presented to top performers. In the Hayer League, Altaf Tahir was declared Player of the Tournament, while Farook Khan was named Best Batsman and Wahid Ullah the Best Bowler.

In the Diriyah League, Rustam Faiz claimed Player of the Tournament award, Syed Adeel the Best Batsman and Aftab the Best Bowler.

The tournament is organized by Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA) under the auspices of Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC) and sponsored by MoneyGram Transfer Service.
