IISJ guides students on tackling competitive exams
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 13 - 02 - 2014

JUBAIL — A knowledge workshop was conducted by Nishant Sinha "General Awareness on Engineering and Medical Entrance Exams and Changing Competitive Scenario" at Indian International School Al Jubail (IISJ).
School principal Dr. Syed Hameed opened the session with emphasis on the importance of competitive exams and the need to understand the different career options that are available to students.
He also stressed on the importance of being competitive and also thanked the management committee for taking the initiative to invite speakers on an important topic.
He also said that there are many students who if given the right guidance will make IISJ proud by topping the Joint Entrance Exams (JEE) exams and becoming IITians.
Sinha was very happy with the overwhelming response received from parents and students.
He thanked Khan of Equinox Projects for making the even possible.
Key speakers of the workshop Sinha and Manish Kumar helped students clear all the doubts on the current competitive scenario and helped them understand the right strategy and approach for high stake competitive examinations like JEE (Main and Advanced) and AIPMT.
Sinha had a detailed discussion with the students to help them understand the thin margin between the boards and competitive exams.
He also shared lots of studying techniques which would help them succeed in engineering and medical exams.
He said that students need to do smart work to clear these exams, hard work alone is not sufficient.
Narrating an anecdote, he told children of his modest background and how he went on to study IIT Delhi.
He inspired children to look within themselves and make their parents proud by getting an admission into the most coveted engineering colleges in India.
He said: “If I can do it, so can you.”
The School Chairman, Tahir Mohiuddin, closed the session by thanking the speakers. "One of the main motives of his committee is to uplift the education system and to give his students better career prospects in life."
He also thanked his team who have been very supportive in all new initiatives.
The workshop helped students and parents develop an insight into these exams and also brought about clarity on how to approach studies.
Parents said that such workshops should be held every year as it enriches them with insights into the competitive scenario in India.
Most of the students wanted a one-on-one session with the team from India to discuss their personal careers options and seek guidance from them. — SG
