BMW, MINI sales shift to higher gear
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 01 - 02 - 2014

Building on an impressive year on year performance, Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors (MYNM) has announced an 1 percent increase in sales for BMW and MINI sales in 2013. In a fiercely competitive market where consumers seek the best in motoring, BMW Group vehicles continue to bolster their position as leaders in the premium segment.
Driven by high-end models, the increase in sales maintained the Kingdom's position as the second biggest market in the Middle East in terms of cars sold. With a total delivery of 4,228 vehicles in 2013, it comes as no surprise that the key driver of growth remains the BMW 7 Series accounting for a 9 percent increase with a total of 1,631 cars sold in 2013. Leading the Middle East in the luxury sedan segment, the BMW 7 Series is the epitome of luxury, elegance and innovation, qualities appreciated and desired by discerning customers in the Kingdom – a fact that is reaffirmed with Saudi Arabia being the leading market in the Middle East for BMW 7 Series sales.
Commenting on the outstanding sales performance, Stavros Paraskevaides, Managing Director of Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors (BMW Group), said: “A byword for luxury, elegance and innovation, the BMW 7 Series model has strengthened its leading position as the most dynamic and innovative luxury sedan in the premium automotive segment in the Saudi Arabian market. We are confident that the strong performance of our flagship model will continue through 2014.”
A core product in the BMW portfolio, and the global leader in the executive saloon segment, the BMW 5 Series was the second best-selling car with the delivery of 1,186 cars to customers. This was an increase of 35 percent over 2012 5 Series sales which was boosted by the introduction of a revised model late last year.
The success story of the BMW 3 Series continues – not only is it the world's best-selling premium car, but also a favorite in Saudi Arabia where sales increased 81 percent over the previous year. Other BMW models that continue to be best-sellers in the Kingdom are the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe and the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupé.
Paraskevaides added: “These impressive results clearly demonstrate Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors' commitment to the growth of the BMW Group brands as well as its significant contribution to the Kingdom's burgeoning automotive industry. The National Commercial Bank report forecasts that new cars sales are projected to cross one million units by 2018. In 2014 we have a host of exciting new additions to our ever-growing BMW portfolio. We will continue to focus on providing premium quality products and services to all our customers and we are confident that we will continue building on this record performance.”
MINI also continued to be popular amongst audiences in Saudi Arabia. Sales for 2013 increased by 15 percent with 125 vehicles delivered. Mohammed Yousuf Naghi Motors expects the growth to continue into 2014 with the launch of the all-new MINI Hatch scheduled for arrival in the first quarter of 2014. — SG
