RIYADH — Cristiano Ronaldo was celebrated for another milestone in the Roshn Saudi League before Al Nassr extended their perfect start to the new season with a 2-0 win over Al Kholood at Al Awwal Park on Sunday night. The Portuguese superstar received the 2024-25 golden boot pre-match, recognizing his league-leading 25 goals last season. Already off the mark in the current campaign, Ronaldo is chasing history as he bids to become only the second player to win the scoring title in three consecutive RSL seasons. While not at his dazzling best against Al Kholood, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner helped steer Jorge Jesus' side to a professional victory. Sadio Mané broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute, combining neatly with summer signing Kingsley Coman before slotting past goalkeeper Juan Pablo Cozzani. Coman nearly scored himself soon after but fluffed a rebound from close range. The second goal arrived in the 81st minute through another new arrival, Spanish defender Iñigo Martínez, who powered home Marcelo Brozović's corner for his first goal in yellow and blue. Late drama followed when Al Nassr goalkeeper Raghid Najjar denied Myziane Maolida from the penalty spot to preserve the clean sheet and Martínez's perfect start at the back. After finishing third last season, Al Nassr now have back-to-back wins to open 2025-26 as they mount another push for the RSL crown.
