Published in The Saudi Gazette on 03 - 10 - 2022

The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) launched Monday the Safar group art exhibition, which celebrates the natural cultural heritage of AlUla and collects global artistic creations inspired by the heritage of AlUla through various details that combine artistic expressions and include the arts of sculpture, photography, textiles, and graphics.
The arts are of great importance in AlUla's vision, given that it is one of the main pillars of the Royal Commission for AlUla, which achieves the directives of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, prime minister and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for AlUla, towards developing AlUla, protecting its natural heritage and sharing its cultural history with the world.
The Safar exhibition highlights the unique legacy of AlUla that it will have with the various artistic initiatives previously announced, the latest of which was "Valley of Art", which plays a major role in achieving the future vision aimed at building a cultural economy.
The exhibition includes 64 artworks, created by 25 artists from the Kingdom and abroad, in addition to a group of local craftsmen from the "Deira School". These will be displayed in the executive hall and the internal hall at AlUla International Airport to form an artistic tale that tells the heritage, history, present and future of AlUla.
Nora Al-Dabal, executive director of Arts and Creative Industries at the Royal Commission for AlUla, explained that the Safar group exhibition is an extension of the Commission's efforts in the culture and arts sector.
It also reflects AlUla's historical connection with arts, and also represents an important added value to the series of global events that were held and supervised by the Commission including "Desert X AlUla", the "Cortona on the Move" festival, in addition to announcing the launch of "Valley of Art".
Al-Dabal added that the establishment of the Safar Art Group exhibition at AlUla International Airport connects visitors to AlUla in its new chapter as a center for creativity and arts, which is an integral part of the identity and name of AlUla.
She stressed that the arts in AlUla will play a major role in achieving the future vision aimed at building a cultural economy.
The arts sector is one of the main sectors in light of AlUla's vision, which was inspired by the axes of Vision 2030, through many initiatives, several of which have been implemented.
This is in addition to what was included in the "Journey Through Time" masterplan that highlights heritage and nature sites; to promote sustainable development, by investing all available ingredients to create diversified economic tributaries. — SPA
