JEDDAH — The Jeddah Da'wah Center of Ahmad Peradilla beat MODA 61-58 at the Bin Mafouz basketball court here recently. It was a close fight up to the final whistle. Jaber Gonzales scored 21 points for the winner and was adjudged the Giordano Player of the Game, while Reynold Borceque scored 20 points for the losing side.
The tournament is sponsored by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN – The Filipino Channel, Saudi Signs (Sam Adora), Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi), Wael Sports Wear (Noel) and Arabian Food Supplies (Ahmad Miri).
In another match Erfan Hospital of Dr. Ahmed Erfan defeated Saudia Catering 83-71. Coach Arwin Ochavillo shuffled his boys well in the final quarter.
Valle top scored with 21 points to claim the Saudi Sign Player of the Game honor. Hassan Makki scored 18 points for the loser.
Rabya of coach Richard Sotto beat Jeddah Marriott Hotel 60-57 in yet another outing. The winner escaped a near defeat as the losers fumbled their last offense. Garcia led the winner with 30 points. He was named the JBL Player of the Game, while Bandiola had 14 points for the losers.
Nissan GTR of coach Francis Gallego closed the JBL night with an 84-75 win over Mahmoud Gharib. The winner played wisely in the last two minutes of the game as the loser committed errors in the end game.
Cilot attacked the defense and scored 22 points for the winner and was adjudged Player of the Game. Jonas led the losing side with 32 points.
In Thursday's action, Hyundai Genesis of Dennis Elmenzo beat United Naghi 81-69. Aaron Macarimban and Nap Solis scored 24 and 18 points, respectively, for the winner. Jobert Recayo top scored with 23 points for Naghi.
In the second match Chilis Restaurant of Alfredo Villas defeated Mini Cooper 81-69. Pungay Masigan scored a career-high 35 points and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game. Sherwin Cabading had 25 points for the loser.
In another match Saudi Diyar of coach Jeffrey Esperanza tamed Viagra Naghi 68-61 to seal the No. 1 position in the championship series. Gerald Deleon scored 20 points for the winner and was adjudged the Player of the Game while Sampang scored 18 points for the rival side.
Another match saw Al-Muhaidib of coach Pablo Viscayno beat STC Terabytes 81-57. Gary Fadernal had 16 points for the winner and was adjudged the Player of the Game, while Ebido and Perito scored 11 points apiece for the losing side.
