State run Pakistan Television (PTV) Deputy Managing Director (DMD) Shahid Nadeem, who was dismissed by the new PTV Chairman because of the faux pas in Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani's address to the nation, has been reinstated with the intervention of Information Minister Sherry Rehman. Not only Nadeem has been brought back to his position from where PTV chief Dr. Shahid Masood had removed him but his contractual appointment as DMD has also been got regularized from the prime minister. Earlier, Nadeem's appointment was made without the mandatory legal sanction of the premier. After his dismissal by the PTV chief, Nadeem's rehiring was got approved from the prime minister. The mess-up that was created during Gilani's maiden speech to the nation on July 19 led to the dismissal of Nadeem and issuance of notices of explanation to a PTV controller and general manager and some other changes. All these notices have also been withdrawn. After sacking Nadeem, the PTV chief had appointed Mustafa Kamal Mandokhel as DMD. “I have now been posted at the PTV Foundation,” Mandokhel confirmed. He will leave the post in the next few days, as Nadeem would get official papers for his reinstatement as DMD. The information minister had sharply reacted to Masood's action against her appointee, DMD, and other PTV officials and stated that he did not have the powers to dismiss the DMD. __
