LG breaks another Guinness World Record
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 19 - 08 - 2016

LG Electronics, the global technological pioneer, has achieved another Guinness World Record, this time with its refrigerators, thanks to its Centum System, which enjoys exceptional energy efficiency.
LG Electronics used this system, built in refrigerators and other products, to light 18,072 fluorescent bulbs and create a 12-meter by 9.6 meter image of gargantuan proportions, shattering the previous record of 11,022 bulbs, set in 2014.
Illuminating the image for one hour required 198.8k Wh of electricity, equivalent to what an energy efficiency-rated Centum System refrigerator can save in a year. This is approximately the same amount of electricity required to power a vacuum cleaner five and a half hours per day for one year or to run a hair dryer approximately 30 minutes every day for nearly 18 years. These figures are based on the European energy efficiency ratings.
LG Electronics teamed up with mosaic artist Serge Belo and media artist group Everyware to design and build the image in a 48-hour process. The lightbulb image marks the second Centum System-related Guinness World Records title set this year. The first time took place when an architect who graduated from the prestigious Harvard University constructed the tallest house of ordinary playing cards (3.3 meters tall with 48 floors) on top of a washing machine while spinning at 1,000 RPM.
Eddie Jun, President of LG Electronics-Saudi Arabia, said: "Once again LG high-quality products break another world record because of their efficient use of power and prove their leadership in the electrics and electronics market. The innovatively-designed centum system enhances efficiency and guarantees comfort for all our customers."
Salman Alsabban, corporate marketing manager of LG Electronics-Saudi Arabia, said, "We are happy about the recent achievement and pleased to offer another highly-efficient product that can be used inside any kitchen no matter what size it is. We will continue to make innovative products that cater to the tastes and desires of our customers."
