Panasonic eyes 20% regional growth in eco solutions market
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 06 - 03 - 2016

PANASONIC Marketing Middle East & Africa (PMMAF), a global leader in technology demonstrated its Energy, Lighting and Indoor Air Quality solutions which feature the latest in electrical product segment at Middle East Electricity (MEE) 2016, the region's largest power exhibition.
Panasonic's global eco solutions business target looks at a 20% growth in the next 2 years, a large part of which is expected from Middle East & Africa (MEA).
In terms of business activities, Wiring Devices & Fans continue to be Panasonic's foundations; while new and challenging arenas in the MEA forecasted are Solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) and professional LED fixtures.
Present at MEEE 2016 PMMAF's Director and Divisional Head of Eco Solutions Division – Tatsuya Kumazawa, said "Panasonic's acquisition of the Turkey-based electrical materials producer Viko in 2014 has also been a part of this strategy.
We are already the market leader of electrical switch and socket business in Asian countries and targeting to be number one in the world by 2018 which will mark the 100th anniversary of Panasonic's foundation."
Further penetration into this market will be the focus of creating new businesses by developing competitive products for each market. Future plans include leveraging Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as available in the region and establishing local production sites.
While Indoor Air Quality solutions look at keeping the innovation momentum running by introducing products using the latest technologies, Panasonic's Eco Solutions division looks to enter the MEA market by introducing a whole range of Water Pumps – in line with the local governments' strategy of water management to improve water distribution systems. Another area of extreme importance is Solar Panels.
Many of the MEA countries - namely UAE, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan and Saudi Arabia have made forays into large-scale solar power programs. This has been inevitable as sustainability in this part of the world is becoming a major area of focus.
The average Global Horizontal Irradiance (GHI) is abundant – with an approximate 6 Kilowatt (KW) per hour, clearly proving that solar is the future and the driver for fueling further infrastructure growth.
Panasonic continues to look at a value-driven growth with customized solutions in a steadily growing renewable energy market.
