Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Tunisia enjoy historic and strategic relations, Adel Al-Jubeir, foreign minister, said here on Thursday. Addressing a joint press conference with his Tunisian counterpart Taïeb Baccouche here, Al-Jubeir said strong ties between Kingdom and Tunisia are based on mutual respect and a unified strategy to confront extremism and terrorism and a number of other issues. Al-Jubeir said he and his Tunisian counterpart, discussed ways to boost economic cooperation and economic exchange between the two countries. They also discussed importance of finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis and ways of dealing with the situation in Iraq and Yemen as well as steps to find a peaceful solution to the crisis in Libya. On the Palestinian issue, Al-Jubeir stressed that for all Arab and Islamic countries peace in Palestine is of paramount importance. Al-Jubeir stressed that the Kingdom has all along been pressing the international community to adopt measures on a fair settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state. He also reiterated that the Kingdom has always supported the Palestinian people and government financially, politically and morally. Regarding the Islamic military alliance to combat terrorism, Al-Jubeir said: "The alliance, which includes more than 35 countries, is for all countries. Its aim is to counter terrorism from security, military and intellectual aspects." He pointed out that joining the alliance is voluntary and each state should choose what kind of support it wants. He added that there will be coordination among Islamic countries regarding exchange of information, expertise and providing equipment in the field of security. "International cooperation is important to eliminate terrorism," Al-Jubeir said.
