Ogatia, Lim guide Starframes to win
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 08 - 12 - 2011

Chito Ogatia and Vangie Lim delivered three brilliant games to clinch the Bowler of the Week accolades which with solid support from Archie Alcantara and Toto Lim plus the average shares of Fred Cuenca and Vic Bantay led to Starframes' supremacy on the 7th week of the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group at the Bowling City here recently.
Matched against top-favorite team, Starframes startled its opponent by eclipsing Lance & 3rdy on the initial game with Ogatia and Vangie scoring well and with augmentation of Toto Lim's 223, the serge Rivera-captained team gapped the Ric Reformado squad at 1,230-1,191.
Lance & 3rdy hit back on the next salvo at 1,231-1,223 on the prime blitz of Macelo Manalo and Reformado at 239 and 213, but the Evelyn Santoc-managed team enabled only to inch at 2,453-2,442 on the 2-game computation. Protecting 41-pin advantage including handicap into the last set Ogatia and Vangie geared well for the entrenchment especially when they see Santoc and Reformado are rallying profusely.
With the support squad of both sides sturdily behind their main columns Starframes enabled to capitalize their handicap to salvage the last game at 1,164-1,161 though Lance & 3rdy emerged better in scratch at 1,036-1,008. Such crucial win settled 11-9 (3,617-3,583) with Ogatia and Vangie taking most coveted individual honors at 645 and 628 respectively and the rest shared by Alcantara, Toto, Cuenca and Bantay. Starframes hailed triple celebration as their exemplary collective performance reputed as Team of the Week.
Lance & 3rdy was best defended by Med Ramos at 635, followed by Reformado at 628, Santoc (616), Manalo (593), Rene Punzalan (567) and Edward Botardo (544).
In week 8 action, Gerry Mandanas cleared male bowlers' board with 692 in leading Royal Strikers past Starframes, while Sally Sa?osa helmed Shawly Computer with 638 in trouncing Dr. Hassan Hijazi Team. Royal Strikers actually lost Game 1 at 1,234-1,139 as Ogatia carried his sterling performance at 247 augmented by Fatima Jintarat's 210 and Alcantara's 212.
But at the time Mandanas started chaining strikes for 256 on Game 2, Ed Sardi?a and Jun Estefano also heightened production at 211 and 221 on Game 2, which with support from team manager Albert Abug, Joey Calapatia and Cheryl Tibay, Royal Strikers moved nearer to 2,374-2,327 on an 1,188-1,140 retaliation through Ogatia's 248 great games sustainance. Computing at least five marks to bulldoze Mandanas once again unleashed wall-breaking assault at 234 and with 217 and 228 augmentation from Calapatia and Abug Royal Strikers cleared the barrier at 3,584-3,515 on an ultimate sealing of 1,257-1,141.
Shawly, meanwhile, edged DHHT 1,151-1,110.
