U.S. stocks were mostly higher Monday, as the Standard & Poor's 500 and the technology-heavy Nasdaq tried to build on last week's gain. The Dow industrials declined. The Dow Jones industrial average fell 86.11, or 0.3 percent, to 27,844.91. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 9.14, or 0.3 percent, to 3,381.99. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose 110.42, or 1 percent, to 11,129.73.
