Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, opened here today the Arab Archives Conference, organized by the National Center for Documents and Archives under the theme "Role of Arab Archives in Supporting Arab Knowledge Community amid Challenges and Future Aspirations" being held at King Faisal gallery at the intercontinental hotel. Addressing the opening of the three-day event, Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Sammari, Supervisor General of the center, said the conference, enjoying the patronage of the monarch, aims at underscoring the importance of archives and their role in enhancing the knowledge community, casting light on the Arab archives status quo and drawing the attention to the challenges facing them. He added that the conference also contributes to change the traditional stereotyped profile of archives as just a store for documents into a source for publishing information that takes part in the digital transformation process, enhances the decision-making process and exchange of information between governmental bodies on one hand and researchers and students on the other.
