The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 40, or 0.21 percent, to 19,111. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 8, or 0.38 percent, to 2,204. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index decreased 22, or 0.42 percent, to 5,376.
