U.S. stocks closed lower Tuesday. The dollar reversed to edge higher against major world currencies. Light sweet crude oil for April delivery climbed 93 cents to $50.52 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while gold futures dropped $3.80 to $1,204.40 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average lost 85.26, or 0.47 percent, to 18,203.37. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index declined 9.61, or 0.45 percent, to 2,107.78. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index fell 28.20, or 0.56 percent, to 4,979.90.
