JEDDAH: The security authorities have succeeded in retrieving stolen items worth SR2 million from an Indonesian gang of thieves, who specialized in burglary. The authorities reported that the thieves broke into several flats in different parts of Jeddah and stole valuable items worth over SR2 million. The owners of the goods were asked to identify their possessions. Earlier Okaz/Saudi Gazette published news of the burglaries and revealed details of the Indonesian gangsters led by a man called Nouri. The police, under the command of Major General Ali Al-Ghamdi, Director of the police in Jeddah, put the gang members under strict surveillance. The surveillance showed that the gangsters targeted houses in Al-Salama District, especially the villas of rich families in the neighborhood. They would break into the villas and steal items as soon as the families went out. The activity of the gangsters also extended to Al-Naim, Al-Naha and Al-Mahmmadyia. The investigation conducted by the security authorities showed that the gangsters broke into more than 25 flats and villas. The police suspected an Indonesian resident who suddenly appeared to have become rich. He was placed under close surveillance. The team found that he had acquired a number of expensive watches and laptops. Investigators found that the suspect was spending most of his time in-doors without working and detained him. When he was confronted with the evidence he collapsed and confessed to his crimes. He also guided the police to his accomplices, who also admitted their guilt. The team found in their possession jewels, expensive cameras, watches, wallets, laptops and expensive mobile phones. First Lieutenant Nawaf Al-Bouq, Spokesman of the Jeddah Police, confirmed the culprits confessed to the crimes.
