terrorism center in the capital is correcting misconceptions of those who fell into the traps set up by the people advocating deviant thought, Bandar Al-Aiban, Chairman of the Human Rights Commission (HRC), said here Friday. Al-Aiban was speaking after visiting the center Friday where he was briefed on its programs. He stressed that the center was helping the inmates realize their mistakes. Al-Aiban said the center's programs correct these thoughts, attitudes and beliefs and that those who go through the programs are usually helped in removing misconceptions about Islam. He said the programs help people reach a balanced and secure level of thought that puts them on the right track and prepares them for ideological and social challenges they may face after completion of their sentences. Al-Aiban said the center, the brainchild of Prince Muhammad Bin Naif Bin Abdul Aziz, Assistant Minister of Interior for Security Affairs, gives people a positive future. “Most importantly, the programs help these victims reintegrate into the society and become productive members,” he said. Al-Aiban toured of the center, including its educational, sports, recreational and health facilities and met with the young men enrolled in the program. In an address, Al-Aiban emphasized that the Kingdom's leadership is committed to provide the young men with help and support to start a new life once their minds have been cleared of contamination that has nothing to do with Islam. Program beneficiaries praised the productive, caring treatment they receive. “We used to hear about the center before our enrollment in its programs, but in fact the care and kindness we have found is much more than what we had heard,” an inmate said. Al-Aiban said the center has received the appreciation and admiration of several countries because of its contribution in rehabilitating young men. He said by all measures and standards the center has a positive impact in protecting the intellectual security of the Saudi society on the basis of sound scientific principles that find their roots in the genuine Islamic teachings.
