RIYADH — Saudi weightlifter Abdullah Al-Qaisoom secured a silver medal in the 110 kg category at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship, held in Kazakhstan, marking a proud achievement for the Kingdom on the continental stage. The tournament drew more than 199 athletes from 23 countries, showcasing fierce competition across multiple weight classes. Al-Qaisoom's podium finish is Saudi Arabia's second medal in the tournament, reflecting the Kingdom's rising profile in regional weightlifting. Mohammed Alharbi, President of the Saudi Weightlifting Federation and General Secretary of the Asian Weightlifting Federation, praised the team's performance and credited early preparation as a key factor in the achievement. He also highlighted the growing popularity of the sport across Asia, which continues to elevate competition standards. Alharbi reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment to developing young athletes and enhancing Saudi Arabia's representation in international events.
