Ralco, ALJ, Tata and Saudi-XI in semis

JEDDAH — Ralco downed Emper Perfumes, ALJ Toyota had the better of Mercedez Benz, Tata Motors humbled Harsco Baroom and Al-Mazroi went down to Al-Saudi-XI in the quarterfinals of the Modern Pioneer Morning Summer Tournament, organized by WPCA and sponsored by Modern Pioneer Company.
In the semifinals Ralco will meet ALJ Toyota and Al-Saudi will take on Tata Motors.
Ralco, sponsored by Ralson India Limited, thumped Emper Perfumes by 8 wickets. Emper Perfumes started well with openers Usman Amjad hitting 8 fours to compile 57 in 33 balls and Babar making 29. But once the openers were separated, Arsalan of Ralco did not allow any of the batsmen to cross the double-digit mark. Emper Perfumes was all out for 121. Arsalan took 4 for 11 and Tanvir 2-15. Ralco, in reply, got to the winning target for the loss of 2 wickets in 85 balls. Naeem hit 25 and Irshad 18.
In the second quarterfinal, ALJ Toyota defeated Mercedez Benz by 48 runs. ALJ Toyota piled up 170 for 6 through Farhaan (41), Basheer (37), Bilal (27 not out) and Asif (23). Javed took 2-30 and Habib 2-45. In reply, Mercedez Benz was restricted to 122 with only Saif Rana making 27 and Saif 26. Zahid claimed 3-23 and Azeem 2-34.
In the third match, Tata Motors crushed Harsco Baroom by 72 runs. Tata Motors racked up 200 for 8, thanks to Faisal Shahzad who hammered 83 in 46 balls with 12 fours and 3 sixes and Noor Butt who got to 57 with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Shehroz claimed 3-38.
Harsco Baroom, in reply, managed 128 with only Hasanat scoring 46 in 16 balls. The other failed very badly. Faisal Lateef took 3-21, Faisal Shahzad 3-26, Sayed 2-18 and Shah 2-8.
In the fourth quarters, Al-Saudi-XI humbled Al-Mazroi-XI by 69 runs. Batting first, Al-Saudi-XI plundered 249 for 3 in 18 overs. Mazhar Abbasi remained unbeaten on 103 off 44 balls with 6 sixes and 8 fours, while Nazeer was not out on 16. The duo added 112 runs in 45 balls for the unbroken fourth wicket. Earlier, opener Faisal hit 74 in 38 balls and Nadeem Saad compiled 31. The two added 98 in 38 balls for the opening stand. Farhaan took 2-63.
Al-Mazroi while chasing could get to 180 for 6 with Faisal Patel making 61 with 8 fours and 4 sixes, Farhaan 20, Sohail 24 and Farooq unbeaten 37. Nadeem Saad grabbed 3-31 and Adil 2-22.
