IDB storms into Premier semis

JEDDAH — Islamic Development Bank (IDB) qualified for the semifinals of the Modern Pioneer Premier Cup here. Unbeaten My Care Hala, Crown Steel and AOT joined IDB in the last four.
In the Modern Pioneer Afternoon event, Nestle Milo, Hala Academy Blue, Crown Blue, Elaf Advance, Zultrack, APF, MCH Green and Fuchs Alhamrani made it into the quarterfinals.
The three levels of Modern Pioneer Cup tournaments, organized by Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) are sponsored by Modern Pioneer Company.
Premier
My Care Hala downed Crown Steel, IDB defeated Hala Friends and AOT won against Al-Ghamdi Cricket Stars to gain berths in semis.
IDB defeated Hala Friends by 6 wickets. Hala Friends produced 212-5. Waqar hit 62 in 34 balls, Hassan Malik scored 33, Niaz Ahmed 43 and Zahid remained unbeaten on 18. Zahid Anwar grabbed 2-29 and one wicket each went to Abdullah Shah and Hashim Khan.
IDB, lost early wickets but Farook Mohammed compiled a match-winning and 44 not out and Irfan Shah hammered unbeaten 91 with 2 sixes and 10 fours to get to 214-4 with 2 balls to spare. Anees Malik got 2-30, while one wicket each was claimed by Salim and Wajahat.
AOT trounced Al-Ghamdi by 6 wickets. Ghamdi Cricket Stars posted 160-7 as Aqeel stroked 40 and Faisal 46. Imran claimed 2-16, Qaiser 2-34 and Ilyas 2-15, while Waleed and Waheed took one wicket each.
AOT responded with 161-4 in 96 balls. Faisal Mehmood smashed 66 in 32 balls and Ilyas 33. The two added 108 for the first wicket. Naeem Shah remained unbeaten on 34. Ali scalped 3-27 and Anwer one.
My Care Hala thrashed Crown Steel by 65 runs. For My Care Hala Qamar Abbas blasted an unbeaten 109 in 64 balls with 3 sixes and 12 fours.
Kashif Shafeeq hit 19 and Babar 25 to tally 206-4. Rizwan, Shoaib Ali, Ejaz Sagheer and Gulam Riyaz were among the wickets.
Crown Steel, in reply, lost wickets at regular intervals to be stranded at 141-8 as Sajed scored 19 and Shafeeq Ahmed 23.
Later, Waqas Ausaf hit 52 in 33 balls. Mohammed Taiyyab took 2-5, Jameel 2-25 while a scalp each went to Adnan Dani, Imran, Amjed and Khurram Haneef.
Afternoon Cup
Hala Academy Blue won by 7 wickets over UCC-XI. UCC-XI posted 140-8 through Shahnawaz Khan (25), Sohaib Ahmed (27) and Imran Asad (unbeaten 28).
Shahbaz claimed 2-14, Zaafran 2-20 and Amjed 2-24. Hala Blue took 69 balls to get to the winning target of 142-3. Dilawar made 27.
Talha remained unbeaten on 85 in 33 balls with 7 fours and 5 sixes and Amjad scored 22. Yasir Ameen claimed 2-33.
MCC downed ET Zone by 4 wickets. ET Zone got to 142-9 as Abdulrehman hit 50 in 45 balls. Ramazan took 2-13, Hamid 2-22 and Imran 2-23.
MCC reached 147-6 in 93 balls through Shahzaman (20), Saleem (45) and Hamid Khan (unbeaten 20). Hamza took 2-15 and Ali 2-48.
Fuchs Alhamrani chased successfully against Waqas-XI to win by 6 wickets. Waqas-XI produced 207-6 as Waqas hammered 70 in 46 balls and Haroon Rana 54 in 23 balls.
Fuchs Alhamrani reached 211-4 with Irfan Anjum hitting 23, Nazaish 47, Khoban Ayan 61 in 29 balls and Mohsin unbeaten 38. Hussain took 2-20.
Zultrack wasdeclared winner against Brasa De Brazil.
