JEDDAH — Shahbaz Rasheed of MCH, Shabbir of Jotun Paints, Malik Shaan of APF and Asif of Choudhry-XI cracked centuries, while Amjad of MCH grabbed 5 wickets to be the top performers in the Modern Pioneer Summer Cup, organized by Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) and sponsored by Modern Pioneer Company.
Summer Cup
AOT defeated IDB by 9 runs. AOT plundered 209-7 as Faisal Mehmood hammered 36 and Ilyas 31. Once the openers were separated AOT lost 4 wickets for 24 runs and slumped to 89-4. However, Faiq Habeeb rescued with an unbeaten 70 in 38 balls and produced 64 runs with Qaisar Lateef (28). Yasir claimed 3-35, Farooq 2-18, while one wicket each went to Kashan, Zahid Anwar and Hashim Khan.
IDB replied with 200-8. Hashim Khan hit 54 in 27 balls, Arif Nazeer 26. The two added 88 for the first wicket but soon lost 5 wickets to be in trouble at 114 for 5. Farook Mohammed blasted 54 in 33 balls. Zeeshan took 3-28 and a scalp each went to Qaiser, Imran and Faisal.
My Care Hala downed Pepsi Deccan Knights by 80 runs. Opting to bat first, My Care Hala's Shahbaz Rasheed blasted an unbeaten 119 in 64 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. He added 126 for the third wicket with Imran (51 off 30 balls) and then 98 for the unbroken fourth wicket with Babar Hussain (40) to get to a mammoth 224-3 after it lost both the openers in the first over. Akbar claimed 2-37 and Wasi Rabbani one.
Pepsi Deccan Knights was restricted to 144-9. Mohammed scored 31 and Ishaq 44. Amjed Mohammed was the chief destroyer with 5-14, followed by Imran (3-31) and Jameel (1).
Afternoon Summer Cup
Nestle Milo crushed Marine Services by 9 wickets. Marine Services was bundled out for 60. Irfan took 3-43, Ahsan 3-15 and Bilal Malik 2.
Nestle Milo in return, made 61 in just 43 balls with 9 wickets in hand. Azeem scored an unbeaten 30 and Ahsan 24 not out.
Hala Academy Blue won against Hala Academy White by 6 wickets. Hala White put on 149 through Sarfaraz (34), Majed (26), Amer Sajjad (22) and Naseer (22). Adil claimed 3-24 and Zaafran 2. Hala Blue chased down the target (151-4 in 103 balls) as Bilawar scored 29, Talha remained unbeaten on 48 and Amjad 34.
Crown Blue trounced AMI Juffali by 4 wickets. AMI Juffali posted 153-5 as Imad scored 61 and Moon Shah belted 42. The two added 100 for the second wicket. Crown Blue reached 154-6 in 95 balls. Saqib Butt hit 38 and Saleem Mehar 20. Shabour took 3-39 and Najam Uzbak 2.
Asian Plastic Factory (APF) thrashed Aziziya Elegant by 46 runs. APF piled up 206-3. Malik Shaan belted an unbeaten 103 in 49 balls with 7 sixes and 6 fours. Usman scored 30 and Asim 26. Azizya Elegant managed 160-6. Ameen hit 43, Majed 35 and Waqar 18. Rizwan claimed 3-23.
Jotun Paints crushed Brasa De Brazil by 138 runs. Jotun Paints racked up a mammoth 264-4 as Shabbir blasted 160 in 65 balls studded with 6 sixes and 9 fours. Mazhar made 24 and Shafeeq remained unbeaten on 45. In reply, Brasa De Brazil managed 126. Omair smashed 51, Bilal 25 and Kashif 27. Shabbir grabbed 2 wickets.
MCH Green prevailed over MCC by 5 wickets. MCC put on an impressive 204-5 through Naeem (72 in 45 balls), Saleem (26) and Hamid (49 not out). Yasir took 2 wickets.
MCH Green reached 205 in 105 balls with 5 wickets to spare. Amir hammered 54 and Asghar 55. Mohammed Yasir remained unbeaten on 76 off 32 balls. Babar took 3-28 and Imran 2.
Choudhry-XI had the better of Hyundai by 6 wickets. Choudry-XI chased down 211 for the loss of 4 wickets in 114 balls. Hafeez Adeel smashed 84 in 48 balls while Asif hammered 103 in 43 balls with 3 sixes and 14 fours. Faheem got 2-34.
