Mohammad Rasheed Suyat JEDDAH — The JBL opened its first tournament of the 2015 season dubbed Mandhoubiyah – PEAK Sodas Sports & Shoe Arena Shop Inter-Hospital Basketball Tournament over the weekend at Khalidia basketball court here. Participating teams paraded in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony, which was presided over by JBL President Mohammed Rasheed Suyat, Bro Ali Lumanog and Baba Ahmad of Mandoubiyah Islamic Propagation Office. Virgilio Abano Junior of PEAK Sodas Sports & Shoe Arena Shop was the chief guest. Arthur provided shoes, T-shirts, basketballs and Tony Parker jerseys raffled to the lucky spectators and participants. The awards for the Best Team in Uniform went to Al-Hayat Hospital, while the Best Mascot awards were won by Erfan Bagido Hospital and Al-Mostaqbal Hospital. In the opening game, Al-Hayat Hospital of coach Rey Madattu beat Al-Mostaqbal 92-89. The winner played its offense well in the final quarter. The loser tried hard but faced foul trouble in the dying minutes of the game. Alonto Ahmad scored 28 points for the winner and was adjudged the PEAK Sodas Sports Player of the Game. Birt led the loser with 27 points. Al-Salam International Hospital of coach Yousuf Almeda downed Erfan Bagido Hospital 79-69. The winner was unstoppable in its offense in the fourth quarter. Francis scored 33 points for the winner and was adjudged the JBL Player of the Game. Zapanta netted 17 points for the loser. This tournament is principally sponsored by Mandhoubiyah Islamic Propagation Office in association with PEAK Sodas Sports and Shoe Arena, ABS-CBN - The Filipino Channel and Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi). PEAK Sodas Sports and Shoe Arena raffled to the lucky spectators and participants the following gift items: One basketball was won by Shariff Castillo, 7 Tony Parker Jerseys were won by Jorge Butt of GNP, Mikey of Erfan Hospital, Abdulaziz Endrina of JDC, Hamza Suyat, James Bulcase of GNP, Jun Abug of Al-Salam Hospital and Johan. 7 Tony Parker basketball shoes were awarded to EJ Suyat of JBL, Arnel Batalon of Erfan Hospital, Dango of King Fahd Hospital, Ibrahim Atienza of JBL, Bong of GNP, Norberto Gomez Sulaiman and Tuazon of Al-Hayat Hospital.
