Static Zone T20 tourney off to flying start

RIYADH — Thirtyfour teams are vying for honors in the second Static Zone T20 Cricket Tournament, which is organized by Riyadh Cricket League (RCL) and sponsored by Static Zone Company, at the RCL Complex here recently.
Teams have been divided into three divisions as Super, Premier-I and Premier-II. Ten teams are playing in Super Division, 12 in Premier-I and 12 in Premier-II.
RCL President Mamoor Elahi, Senior VP Jawaid Munawar and executive committee thanked Hammad Habib, GM Static Zone, for sponsoring the event. The grounds were prepared for the event after heavy rain under the supervision of Hanif Baber, vice president RCL. Six matches were played on the opening day.
Kashmir Press CC got the better of JAMIAA CC by 9 runs. Openers Shoaib and Sultan put on 150 runs in a total of 192. Shoaib made 57 and Sultan 72. Saifullah took 2 wickets, while Mushtaq and Saif claimed one each. In reply, JAMIAA could make only 183. Mushtaq top-scored with 83 and Ejaz contributed 59. Qasim and Ishrab took 1 wicket each. Man of the Match: Sultan.
Detecon Rising Stars defeated Cricketers by 35 runs. Batting first, Detecon tallied 179 through Umer Pervaiz (17), Irfan Khawaja (25), Raheel Awan (22), Zahid Asad (29) and Fahad Shabbir (20). Zeeshan, Abdul Malik and Asad claimed 2 wickets each. In reply, Cricketers collapsed for 144. Asad was the only batsman who resisted Detecon's bowling by making 56. Ashfaq hit 26. Khurram took 2 wickets. Man of the Match: Khurram.
OSN Warriors CC beat Riyadh Blues CC by 84 runs. Batting first, OSN set a target of 197. Zahiruddin Khalid and Taher provided a solid start by making 119. Zahir hit 61 and Tahir 45. Syed Raffay made 21. Faiyaz took 3 wickets and Yousaf 2. In reply, Riyadh Blues was all out for 112. Yousaf scored 50. Tousif and Amir claimed 3 wickets each. Man of the Match: Zahiruddin Khalid.
Pure Health CC thrashed E&Y CC by 5 wickets. Batting first, E&Y put on 156. Haseem scored 46, Sami 29 and Antar 28. Ibrahim and Bashir took 3 wickets each. In reply, Pure Health reached the target in 19.1 overs. Hasan top-scored with 53, followed by Waseem 20, Tabrez 18 and Mannan 17. Haseeb and Ashar took 2 wickets each. Man of the Match: Hassan.
Run Riders CC defeated United-XI by 5 wickets. Suhaib did an excellent job for United-XI by contributing 74. Shuja and Shafi scored 20 runs each. Shakeel took 2 wickets.
In reply, Run Riders clinched the win on last ball. Saleem hit 47, supported by Mahmood (23). Minhaj made 25 and Sameer 40. Basith hi the winning run. Jameel, Anwar, Azhar, Khaiser and Shoaib took one wicket each. Man of the Match: Sameer.
Shaheen-XI beat Diamond CC by 2 wickets. Batting first, Diamond set a target of 135 through Taher (19), Shaji (34), Shafi (24) and Aijaz (20). Ali took 3 wickets, while Rehman, Zakir and Sikandar claimed 2 each.
In reply, Shaheen-XI achieved the target in 17 overs. Farooq scored 19, Rehman 15, Yasir 22 and Rashed 21. Ajam claimed 3 wickets, while Rehmat, Shafi, Tayab, Haider and Amir claimed 1 each. Man of the Match: Rehman.
