Badea Abu Al-Naja Saudi Gazette MAKKAH — The director of Civil Defense in Makkah, Brig. Gen. Khalaf Al-Matrafi, revealed that inspections on buildings in Makkah will continue throughout Ramadan to ensure compliance with safety regulations. The Civil Defense is committed to enforcing safety protocols, he said, adding that 54 hotels, 147 shops, 10 restaurants and 5 storage facilities have been inspected to date. Al-Matrafi said the inspections are part of a drive to make the city safer for those performing Umrah. He called on all business owners to ensure that their buildings fulfill safety requirements. He also called for regular maintenance for all firefighting systems and emergency exits. Al-Matrafi added that there is ongoing cooperation between all departments to provide good services to the guests of God.
