RIYADH — Late arrival of guests does not change the pre-determined check-out hours indicated on the reservation document, the Ministry of Tourism has confirmed. The ministery stressed that the 20-hour check-in and check-out policy implemented by hospitality facilities across the Kingdom is consistent with international standards. The ministry said hotels and other hospitality establishments have the right to set their own check-in and check-out times, provided that the period between the two is not less than 20 hours and is clearly stated in the reservation document. It added that facilities may determine these times according to their location and target guests, but without prejudice to guests' right to at least 20 hours of room use from the time of check-in to the time of check-out. In response to recent media reports about late check-ins, the ministry clarified that if a guest checks in at 10 p.m. and the reservation document specifies a noon check-out, the check-out time remains noon the next day, and any lost hours are the guest's responsibility. The same rule applies to any check-in time on the specified day, with check-out fixed at 12 p.m. The ministry emphasized that this policy ensures sufficient time for facilities to prepare rooms for the next guest, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and service quality. It noted that the time period is calculated strictly according to the details in the approved reservation document. It also reiterated that guests are entitled to receive the same room type, amenities, and services shown in booking platform photos, and urged travelers to review check-in and check-out policies before completing reservations.
