The 3rd Mohammed Iqbal Memorial (MIM) Cup kicked off with 16 teams playing knock-out tournament in honor and memory of JCA Ex CEO Muhammed Iqbal Choudhary, man who ruled hearts of cricketers for 38 years. It is indeed a tribute to vision of the man who gave his heart, body and soul to cricket in Jeddah.
The decision taken by JCA committee in 2018 to conduct yearly league in his name was unanimously welcomed not only by JCA cricketers but by all who were dear to Muhammad Iqbal. The event is organized by Jeddah Cricket Association under the auspices of Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation.
The 16 teams have been divided into 2 Groups of 8 playing the knock-out, top team in each Group will battle it out for the Winner and Runner-up positions.
In Week 1 Aces downed K Chinar in high scoring encounter by 6 wickets as Shaan went berserk with an aggressive 124 of 40 balls, Al Burj beat Al Jurana by 5 wickets thanks to Ali Mushtaq 119 of 49 balls and Majid's spell of 4 for 44 despite Ishaq's solid knock of 77 ending up on losing side. Makkah Eagles beat Asfaan CC by 7 wickets courtesy Asad (74) stylish knock while ICAD made short-work of ARM United trouncing them by 7 wickets with Taiyab taking 4 for 32.
Makkah Eagles beat ASFAAN CC by 7 wickets
Asfaan 149 for 8 20 overs Masood 52, Makki 3 for 37. Makkah Eagles 150 for 3 14.3 overs Asad 74, Masood 2 for 35.
ICAD beat ARM United by 7 wickets
ARM United 122 all out. Shakir 37, Zeeshan 27, Taiyab 4 for 32. ICAD 123 for 3, Jawad 32NO, Rashid 2 for 25.
ACES beat K. Chinar by 6 wickets
Chinar 223 for 5 20 overs Kazim 53, Arif 52NO, Zeeshan 2 for 29. Aces 225 for 4 18 overs Shaan 124 (40b), Usman 51NO.
Al BURJ beat Royal JURANA by 5 wickets
Royal Jurana 174 for 7 18 overs Ishaq 77 (50b), Nasir 43, Majid 4 for 44. Al Burj 179 for 5 13.1 overs Ali Mushtaq 119 (49b), Kamran 36, Abdullah 2 for 11.
Debutant United, Aces, Makkah Eagles, Kashmir Stags, CSG prevail in MIM Cup
Debutant United XI, CSG, Kashmir Stags, Aces and Makkah Eagles prevailed in Week 2 of MIM Knock-out Cup played in memory of JCA ex CEO Muhammad Iqbal organized by JCA under auspices of Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation.
United XI had a scare before overcoming Pak Zalmi by 13 runs thanks to Umar's unbeaten 89. Muzamil unbeaten 56 enabled Makkah Eagles beat Al Burj by 7 wickets. Aces beat ICAD by 25 runs with Shaan (58) once again amongst runs.
Danish's gritty 70 and Satish's fine spell of 4 for 26 runs gave Kashmir Stags moment of happiness as they edged Butt Sports by 31 runs. Fine all-round performance by Usman 4 for 8 and an unbeaten 52 bundled out new entrant UFSC for a paltry 92 runs and CSG openers reached the target at 96 for no loss in 7.1 overs only.
United XI beat Pak Zalmi by 13 runs
UNITED XI 187 for 8 20 overs Umar Farooq 89NO (55b), Akbar 28, Asad 3 for 41. Pak Zalmi 173 all out Sheraz 33, Khalid 29, Piash 2 for 24.
ACES beat ICAD by 25 RUNS
ACES 173 for 8 18 overs Shaan 58 (20b), Usman 29, Mohsin 3 for 32. ICAD 148 for 6 18 overs Shakeel 50 (30b), Mohsin 39, Bilal 2 for 16.
Makkah Eagles beat Al Burj by 7 wickets
Al Burj 137 for 7 18 overs Kamran 28, Nawab 2 for 21. Makki 2 for 23. Makkah Eagles 140 for 3 13 overs Muzammil 56NO (33B), Afzal 2 for 41.
Kashmir Stags beat Butt Sports by 31 Runs
Kashmir Stags 188 for 4 20 overs Danish 70, Majid 34, Tauseef 2 for 21. Butt Sports 157 all out Zeeshan 33, Satish 4 for 26.
Center System Group beat United Future CC by 10 wickets
