RIYADH — The Salam Project for Cultural Communication on Friday launched a program called "Tolerance Initiative for Children and Adolescents". This represents one of the initiatives of the Qualification Program for Young Leaders for Global Communication that is concerned with building concepts of shared human values and strengthening them among children of all nationalities. It is based on developing a sense of global citizenship to give the child the ability to interact with the outward changes, and building roots of his tolerance so as to enable him to become an ambassador of peace in the society. The Tolerance Initiative for Global Citizenship also aims to spread the message of tolerance and acceptance of difference between children of various nationalities by holding cultural events that work to build humanitarian partnerships for future generations and accept diversity and cultural coexistence. A large number of children and young people from different nationalities participated in the event and they included expatriates from the United States, India, Britain, South Africa, Pakistan, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Spain and Latvia, in addition to children from Saudi Arabia. The initiative is an opportunity for participants to provide practical training on the principles of communication and coexistence, building bridges of communication between children of different cultures, and promoting concepts of global citizenship for them. The Salam Project is based on training groups of young men and women on the principles of open communication and positive understanding between Saudis and others through the program of qualifying young leaders for global communication. This is to get acquainted with human and cultural partnerships between all and open the door for understanding on issues that may not be clear and understandable to other societies and cultures. It also aims to represent the Kingdom in international forums to present the true image of the Kingdom as well as to remove misconceptions about the Kingdom among the members of those societies. The mission of Salam Project is to promote mutual understanding of various aspects of cultures by utilizing communication channels as well as to exchange and mediate cultural differences between Saudis and the world. The project has integrated international databases and publishes in-depth research and studies on many issues related to the worldwide image of the Kingdom at present.
