Favorites progress in TCF-FSN Trophy

JEDDAH — Tournament favorites Young Star, Kayani Cricket Club, Royal Fighter and Tuskers registered their second wins in the TCF FSN Champions Trophy 2019 at the BMT floodlit ground in Bani Malek here.
The tournament, organized under the auspices of Saudi Cricket Centre (SCC) by TCF, is mainly sponsored by FSN. The co-sponsors are Ascensia, Kool Dezign, Tamer Bupa Abeer Umrah, Masum Logistics and Prime Express.
Meanwhile, Hamenfaiz and Bupa Arabia registered their first win and remained in contention.
In a Group C&D match a strong Kayani Cricket Club thrashed last year's semifinalist Al-Max Cricket by 50 runs. Kayani scored a mammoth total of 150-7 in 10 overs after winning the toss. Openers Shafaqat (26 from 13) and Sami Ul Rahman (34 from 11) gave a flying start and reached 50 runs in the third over. Alwarul Haq (47 from 15) batted brilliantly. Mohammed Nafeel claimed 3 wickets and Darshana 2.
In reply, Al-Max could manage only 100-6. Manoj (17 from 10) and Susantha (15 from 17) only touched double digit. Asif took 2 wickets.
Man of the Match: Alwar Ul Haq.
Kayani 150-7 (Alwar Ul Haq 47 (15 balls), Sami Ul Rahman 34 (11), Nafeel 3-9, Darshana 2-22). Al-Max 100-6 (Manoj 17 (10), Sushantha 15 (17), Asif 2-10).
In another Group A&B match, former champion Young Star Cricket Club beat two-time finalist Times KKR by 9 wickets. KKR, batting first after winning the toss, scored 103-4. Naeem Asif scored 38 from 28 balls and Asif Alavi 29 from 11. KKR could not capitalize after getting a good start provided by openers Shams and Naeem. Mudassir and Imran took two wickets each for Young Star.
In reply, opener Amir Siddiqi and Syed Hussain put up in commanding first wicket partnership of 98 in seven overs to seal the game. Amir Siddiqi blasted 60 in 28 balls and claimed the Man-of-the-Match award.
Timex KKR 103-4 (Naeem Asif 38 (28), Asif Alavi 29 (11), Mudassir 2-20, Imran 2-28). Young Star 109-1 (Amir Sidiqi 60 not out (28), Syed Hussain 28 (20), Shamsuddin 1-11).
Hamenfaiz registered its first win in the tourney by beating Friday Stallions by 31 runs in Group C&D pool. After winning the toss and batting first, Hamenfaiz scored 144-1. Shakkir scored a glittering 64 from 26 balls, well supported by Raheem (36 from 23). Abid Nazir took the only wicket to fall. While chasing a big total, Friday Stallions fought well but couldn't cross the line. Farhaj Nadeem made 21 from 14, while Salman and Imran scored 20 each. Aboobakcer took two wickets, while shakkir and Essa claimed one each. Man of the Match: Shakkir.

Bupa Arabia thrashed Tamer by 7 wickets with 5.3 overs to spare. Tamer 89-7 (Amir Baloch 35 (24), Fahad 17 (7), Faslan 2-9).
Bupa Arabia 90-3 in 4.3 overs (Shemees Gulam 33 (8), Shamsuddin 19 (8), Murtaza 1-21, Amir 1-24). Man Of the Match: Shemees Gulam.
Royal Fighter Jeddah beat Bagladeshi side Nesma Airlines Cricket Club by 63 runs. Royal Fighter 119-4 (Saleem Rafeeq 34 (18), Waqas 30 (19), Shahin 2-20). Nesma Airlines 56-9 (Rana 12 (05), Waqas 2-2, Saleem Rafeeq 2-7, Amir 2-9). Man of Match: Saleem Rafeeq.
