Awdah gets the better of El Khereji

JEDDAH — Awdah of Rey Magat tamed El Khereji 81-74 in the JBL Basketball Tournament at the Bin Mahfouz basketball court here.
Awdah displayed excellent teamwork though the loser did not give up till the final buzzer. Elmer Sanchez scored 30 points for Awdah and was adjudged the Giordano Best Player, while Marcelino and Zambale hit 13 points apiece for the loser.
This tournament is sponsored by Giordano Fashions (Ahmedullah), ABS-CBN - The Filipino Channel, Saudi Signs (Sam Adora), Al-Haddaf Sportsware (Bayoumi) and Arabian Food Supplies Catering Division (Ahmad Miri).
Uptown 966 of Halim Mezher handed Jeddah Eagles their first loss 59-52. Rafael Saldua scored 19 points for the winner and was named the JBL Best Player, while Jamal top-scored with 18 points for the loser.
ALJ Central Purchasing of Noel Sun beat SBG Sparks 71-66. The winner's defensive wall was unbreakable in the final quarter. Montano Dela Cruz chipped in with 14 points for the winner and was selected as the JBL Best Player. Jesril Durano scored 25 points for the loser.
Toyota Sequoia of Abdullah Jimmy Beltran defeated NCB Quick Pay 80-40. Fuentes scored 11 points for the winner and was adjudged the JBL Best Player. Balaa hit 13 points for the loser.
On Friday, JDC Red BM Originals of Mahmoud Quidlat defeated Sabr Brothers Yellow 80-71. Jason, who top-scored with 30 points for the winner, was named the Giordano Best Player. Jameel Khobre Briant scored 26 points for the loser.
ALJ Used Cars of Ronald Uranza beat Barangay Fame 63-55. Tabao brothers Majed and Gani made 15 points apiece for the winner and were adjudged the JBL Best Players. John Ernest Gallano led the loser with 21 points.
Jeddah Eagles of coach Hassan defeated Al-Ettifaq 62-32. Jamal scored 13 points for the winner and was selected as the Saudi Signs Best Player, while Allan Barda chipped in with 9 points for the loser.
Urban Design Group of Ariel Acedera prevailed over Saudia Aviations 58-52. Ricky Reloj, who hit 22 points for the winner, was adjudged the JBL Best Player. Flora top-score with 12 points for the loser.
