JEDDAH — Roger Daquioag and Aileen Miralbuna claimed more honors when they won their 2-game finals in the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group (FEDBG) monthly championship at the Bowling City here recently.
Flashing with 244 hi-game, Daquioag qualified on top in OA group with 832. He scorched the lanes with 234 and 256 to down Rudy Valenzuela at 490-389.
Valenzuela faced Daquioag after surviving Melvin Lising on the classic one-game shootout 232-212. Dariel Loquias beat Emil Payongayong, who eliminated Tommy de Castro, Ruel Santoc and Edu Toledo on Class B. Romy Bunagan and Richard Antonio also entered overall championship after respectively triumphing over Rolly Vistal at 407-388 and Med Ramos at 373-341. Vistal purged Jun Pingan, Edward Botardo and Danny Manriza in Class C, while Ramos dished out Edris Mangoda, Melo Amano and Rod Lofamia in Class D.
Expectedly Daquioag showed early domination when he topped initial game of the 2-game finals with 200. Loquias, Antonio and Bunagan contended with 183, 177 and 171. But the atmosphere changed when Antonio bulldozed the lead by getting closer to Daquioag in the 9th frame. But Daquioag clinched the FEDBG November title by two pins on the total of 398. Antonio embraced bridesmaid post with 396 including his ultimate energetic pursuit of 225, while Bunagan and Loquias settled third and fourth with 388 and 346 respectively.
In the women's division, Nurissa Ramos and Eloisa Fernandez turned out seeded to finals when they qualified on top with respective totals of 758 and 802 in groups AB and CD. Entering the playoff were May Lourdes, Sally Sa?osa, Imelda Sayago and Aisah Silabay, while Ester Santoc and Minda Guevara got short of some pins to the AB cutoff. Cherry Salazar, Mariz Resano, Eva Garcia and Miralbuna made it to playoff in CD, while Andrei Parena, Letty Mendoza and Grace Funtilon fell by the way.
Players displayed fair-play with Sa?osa edging Lourdes by seven pins (191-184) and Miralbuna bowled two marks better than Resano (220-203) to join Ramos and Fernandez in the finals. With only Miralbuna initially averaging, she advantaged the closest pursuer Ramos (157) by 40 pins at 197. With this lead Miralbuna defensively protected her post so that although her game turned sour at 169 and Fernandez rallied for 210, the latter only enabled to clinch the second spot with 356 while the former took FEDBG November crown on the total of 366. Sa?osa who also chased profusely with 195 made it to the third spot with 342 and Ramos finished fourth with 339. Quest for the FEDBG Bowler of 2012 will conclude on Dec. 14 at 2:00 p.m.
