Abug, Patayan emerge FEDBG champions for August

Albert Abug and Susan Patayan unleashed two brilliant games to topple opponents on the 4-bowler race sudden death finals and respectively take home the titles in the men's and women's divisions of the Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group quest for the Bowler of August 2011 at the Bowling City here.
Abug who qualified second (799) behind top qualifier Edris Mangodae (865), turned out class D champion when he beat qualifiers Med Ramos, Nards Hassan, Mac Galang and Carlo Lamo in one-game shootout then walloped Mangondae at 375-354 in their class title match up. The lefty Abug was then up against, Roger Dauioag, Jun Estefano and Rudy Carillo. Daquioag, after discounting Randy Mata, Bobby Baraquel and Melvin Lising defeated OA top qualifier Ed Sardi?a (368-349) on class title match.
Estefano reached the overall battle after out-bowling Jett Santos, Marlon Herdia and Archie Santos then upset top qualifier Ferdie Coloma (419-415) in the class B title fight. Top qualifier Carillo snapped shootout survivor Robert Stone (387-330) on the class title showdown. Stone disqualified Danny Mariza, Rudy Jamon, Rolly Vistal, Joey Calapatia, Ronnie de Castro and Paolo Allego on the shootout.
In the four-bowler race two-game sudden death finals Abug scratched 188 to be behind Estefano with 197, while Daquioag and Carillo were trailing with 187 and 150. With 198 on the ultimate, Abug totaled 386 to bring home the FEDBG male title for August while Daquioag claimed first runner-up with 379, Estefano finished third (348) and Carillo landed fourth (334).
Like Abug, Susan Patayan also passed through the hard way when she placed third with 740 on the elimination to face Cora Agas who startled contenders lady dentist sparkled with 212 on the endgame and toppled second place with her 760. Seeded to finals was May Lourdes who topped with 766 enroute to defending the title. Mariza Resano topped Group CD to enter finals with her 773. Second finisher Carmen Lim (760) was beaten by third finisher Evelyn Santoc (720) at 158-136 in their playoff. Patayan upset Agas at 191-181 in AB shootout.
In the finals, Patayan readily occupied top position with 211 as Lourdes stayed close with 190. Santoc and Resano kept striking distance with 181 and 171. Having her momentum Patayan bowled steadily for 191 to be the FEDBG lady champion for August with her total of 402. Santoc toppled second place with 365, Lourdes turned out third with 363 and Resano landed fourth with 359.
