comer Salic Mudag clinched the men's title while May Lourdes, after missing the circuit for months, secured the ladies' crown at the July 2011 Filipino Expatriate Damayan Bowling Group quest at the Bowling City here.
Mudag scored on the lines of 190, 207, 234 and 199 to sit atop Class C with his 830 handicap series. Another new-comer Romy Bunagan almost upset Mudag, but the latter came out on top with 402-384 2-game series decision. Bunagan beat Carlos Bustinera, Paolo Allego, Edward Botardo, Rudy Carillo, Danny Manriza and Ronnie de Castro with his 244 in 1-game shootout.
With the win Mudag is now on course to meet Ed Sardi?a, Willie Ansis and Nondee de Guzman who beat Johnny Macalintal (421-425), Jett Santos (402-377) and Nards Hassan (439-380) respectively. Macalintal outscored Cesar Monares, Joel Nidoy and Emil Payongayong with his 201 in group OA. Ansis beat Jun Estefano, Marlon Heredia, Ferdie Coloma and Toto Lim with his 202 in Class B. Hassan out-bowled Conrad Baltazar, Fred Cuenca and Med Ramos with his 217 in Class D.
On the two-game 4-bowler race finals, Mudag remained top with 209 as Sardi?a, Ansis and de Guzman kept striking distance at 196, 193 and 187. The ultimate games were then fought with keen interest. Two errors by Sardi?a ended his bid and he finished last. On the last frame Mudag showed his skills to grab the men's FEDBG title at 433, while Ansis posted 417 and de Guzman settled third with 412.
Alona Antinero and Ester Santoc were the lady top qualifiers in groups AB and CD, while runners-up Lourdes and Sharmaine Patayan had to undergo sudden death shootout against Susan Patayan and Evelyn Santoc. Antinero and Ester made the finals with their 4-game series of 826 and 805.
Scratch match-up placed bowlers in fair fight with Lourdes readily on her track for a 211 triumph over Susan who scored 158. Sharmaine and Evelyn were level till the halfway mark, but the latter found the touch on the homestretch win 208-187.
Lourdes had finished third with 181 as Antinero and Evelyn tied on top with 185 each after the first game.
