Habib XI bags BBCL Jotun Cup

Habib XI emerged champion of the first Jotun Cup Big Bang Corporate League, beating ALJ Toshiba by 80 runs in the final here recently.
Electing to bat in the final, Habib XI compiled a solid total of 166-3 in 12 overs. Ahmed Rizvi Jungi once again anchored its innings, hammering 60 runs in 29 balls with 6 sixes along with Samiullah (37). The duo produced 100 runs for the first wicket. Abdul Wahid coming in at No. 3 did further damage to ALJ Toyota by scoring a quick-fire 39 not out in 15 balls with 6 sixes.
In reply, ALJ Toshiba lost Bilal in the first over, bowled by Ibrar. He was followed by inform batsmen Shams and Amir Gujjar. ALJ Toshiba never recovered from the early blows and folded for 86-9, gifting an easy 80-run victory to Habib XI. Ahmed Rizvi Jungi was named the Zam Zam Man of the Final.
In the first qualifier Habib XI defeated Young Star in a thriller. Young Star, opting to bat first, managed 105-9 in its allotted 10 overs. Irfan Nazir was the top scorer with 41. Amir picked up 2 wickets. In reply, Habib XI pulled off a thrilling win in the last over when Ahmed Rizvi Jungi hit a six on the fifth ball when 6 runs were required off 2 balls. He remained unbeaten on 54. Adnan Liaqat claimed 3 wickets. Ahmed Rizvi Jungi was awarded the Zam Zam Man of the Match.
ALJ Toshiba outclassed Lothers CC in the eliminator by 40 runs. Batting first, ALJ Toshiba scored 133-6 in 10 overs, thanks to excellent batting performance by Mohammed Aamir who scored 62. Shibu took 3 wickets. Chasing 134, Lothers could manage only 93-7. Aftab Ahmed took 3 wickets. Mohammed Amir was awarded the Zam Zam Man of the Match for his brilliant knock of 62.
In the second qualifier, ALJ Toshiba defeated Young Stars by 8 wickets to enter final. Young Stars were restricted to 75-9 in 10 overs, thanks to superb bowling by Ali Khan (2-14) and Amjed Jutt (2-10).
In reply, ALJ Toshiba chased down the target in just 5 overs, losing 2 wickets. Sham belted a blistering knock of 41 in 15 balls with 5 sixes. Aamir remained unbeaten on 23. Shams earned the Man of the Match award.
The prize distribution function started with the recitation of the Holy Qur'an by Uzair Ahmed. Faisal Kareem, marketing manager, Jotun Paints, was the chief guest. Muzammil Riyaz and Khaleequr Rahman congratulated the winner, runner-up and the participating teams and also lauded the BBCL organizing committee and volunteers for their efforts. Nayeem Khan (ALJ Toshiba), Syed Akbar Abdul Hadi(sales manager, Indomie), Ali Irshad Ahmed (Zam Zam Restaurant, Tahliyah), Sayed Majaz Quadri(CEO, Dunes Academy), Abdul Muthalib (Bin Fahd Engg.) and Mohammed Bin Mahfouz also graced the ceremony. M. Ayazuddin thanked the sponsors and media for their support and encouragement.
Service awards were given to Syed Afzal, Mujtaba Qureishi, Irfan Dayyani, Rabbani, Mehmood, Shareef and Naushad.

In the last match of the league state, Indomie recorded a consolation win over AVK by 8 wickets. Babar was awarded the Man of the Match for his unbeaten 31 runs. — SG
