Semifinal lineup completed in Afternoon League

JEDDAH: China Southern Airlines, formerly known as Nestle Milo, defeated Contraco, AMI Juffali won against My Care Hala Green, Al-Safree downed MCC and Mahmood Saeed beat Jotun Paints to complete the semifinal lineup of the WPCA Afternoon League which is organized by Western province Cricket Association.
China Southern Airlines was off to a sound start with their openers plundering 74 in 8 overs. Faheem departed for 36 while Awais topscored with 55. Skipper Abdullah Zahid remained unbeaten on 35 to tally 156-6. Farhan took 3-23 while Maqsood, Shahzad and Amjad got one wicket each.
Contraco, in reply, lost its most prolific batsman Kaleem on the second ball but later Nisar stroked a solid 60, Maqsood 32 and Shahzad 22 to take the team to 155-6, only to lose by just one run. Farooq, Abdullah and Anas got one wicket each.
My Care Hala Green, batting first, lost wickets at regular intervals to AMI Juffali. However, it rcorded 167-9 as Yasir stroked 56 in 24 balls and Anjum made 22. Sufiyan grabbed 3-31, Rafiq Gujar 2-34 and Zafar 2-26. Imran and Emad claimed one wicket apiece.
AMI Juffali successfully chased the target in 98 balls by four wickets as Imad plundered 73 in 43 balls and Sufiyan scored 47. Emad took 2-15. Atta and Hassan Malik got one wicket each.
Al-Safree XI posted 155-6 as Anas topscored with 42 and Azher remained unbeaten on 41 after the top order failed. Saeed contributed 24 and Zahid 20. Taqi took 2-7. Zahhor, Asad, Khalid and Aftab Khan accounting for the other wickets.
While chasing, MCC lost wickets at frequent intervals with only all-rounder Taqi making 46 and Aftab Khan 23. Al-Safree was stranded at 154 as Sarfaraz grabbed 2-26, Aftab 2-28 and Kashif 2-30. Waseeq and Zahid claimed one wicket each.
Jotun Paints tallied 153-6 as Shabbir hit 9 fours to compile 70 in 47 balls and Mazher made 33 against some devastating bowling by Wajahat (4-32). Kamal and Abdul Aziz grabbed one wicket each.
Mahmood Saeed was home with 154-4, thanks to a classy 76 (48 balls) by Irfan. Niyaz made 22. Imran took 2-39, Shabbir 2-36 and Shafeeq one.
