JEDDAH — Gujarat Eagles, Jeddah Challenger, Cousin XI, GBest IDB, Tata Motors, Arcoma, New Young Stars and Nesma Holding won their matches in the WPCA-sponsored Morning T20 Tournament here.
Gujarat Eagles downed INMA by 5 wickets. INMA was bundled out for 56. Mukhtar took 3-15, Adil 2-11 and Waqas 2-21. Gujarat Eagles reached the winning target in 74 balls with 5 wickets in hand. Malik Arshad hit 15, Mukhtar Ahmed 26 and Ajmal 13.
Jeddah Challengers defeated Wolves XI by 6 wickets. Wolves XI posted 145 for 7 in 18 overs through Nawaz (48), Irfan (27), Fayyaz (18) and Fuzail (12). Farhan claimed 2-26 and Faisal 2-29. Jeddah Challengers successfully chased the target for the loss of 4 in 102 balls. Rizwan hammered an unbeaten 66, Akram 28 and Farhan 14. Waleed had 2-24 and Talha 2-25.
Cousin XI edged QRCC by 7 runs. Cousin XI produced 153 for 6. Irfan Khan smashed 85 with 4 sixes and 6 fours and Aqeel 31 not out as none other could reach double digits. Amir scalped 2-29. QRCC was bowled out for 146. Amir blasted 29, Abdulrauf 29 and Sadiq 23. Aqeel bagged 3 for 14 and Naweed 3 for 12.
GBest IDB trounced Universal XI by 4 wickets. Universal XI, using the track first, produced 175 for 8 thanks to Bilal making 46 as he added 61 with Zahid (32). Universal then lost wickets in a heap to sit 102 for 5. Later Rashid added 20 and Shakeel 22 not out. Waseem grabbed 4-29 and Khalid 2-36. GBest was home (180) for the loss of 6 wickets in 102 balls. Adil made 39, Rayees 30, Waseem 15 and Junaid 51 not out. Tariq Siddiqui scalped 3 for 34 and Shakeel 2-39.
Tata Motors had the last laugh against Crown Blue by 40 runs. Tata Motors piled up 184 for 8 through Mudassar Iqbal (63), Qaiser (34) and Erfan (17). Noor Butt stroked 15. Junaid scalped 3-22 and Qurban 2-41. Crown Blue was restricted to 144. Haseeb was the top scorer with 28 and Saqib Butt hit 19. Erfan was the chief destroyer with 4-41, Ozair claimed 3-12 and Qaiser 2-19.
Arcoma beat Deloitte by 34 runs. Arcoma plundered 170 for 7. Kaleem smashed 67, Ayaz 16 and Taher 14. Arcoma lost 4 quick wickets to be reduced to 113 for 5. Ismail with 20 and Wasi Rabbani 15 not out gave the total some respectability. Deloitte, in reply, was stranded at 136 for 6. Ahsan stroked 37 and Imad 31. Arsalan was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 24.
New Young Stars prevailed over Star XI by 6 wickets. Star XI, batting first, made 142 for 9. Rizwan scored 23, Ehsan 19, Umer 24 and Nadeem 29. Ibrar took 3-42 and Rizwan 2-24. New Young Stars reached 146 for 4 in 78 balls thanks to Amir's whirlwind innings of 80 studded with 16 fours. He first added 53 with Qasim (18) and then 60 with Israr (17).
Nesma Holding had the better of Mercedes Benz by 29 runs. Nesma Holding produced 169 for 5. Jawwad blasted 33, Rana 16, Sheraz 26, Ben 38 and Akram 15 not out. Mercedes Benz was restricted to 140 for 9. Saif hit 28, Ilyas 26, Amir 45 and Taiyyab 15. Ibrar grabbed 4-27.
