The population of Syria registered in the Civil Records at the beginning of 2010 reached 23.695 million (11.792 million females and 11.903 million males), compared to 23.027 million at the beginning of 2009, recording an increase of nearly 670 thousand. According to the group of statistics for 2010 released by the Central Bureau of Statistics, the number of people living in Syria reached 20.866 million by the end of 2010 (10.203 million females and 10.663 million males), while by the end of last year, the number was 20.367 million. The number of births registered in 2009 was 670,793 (343,264 males and 327,529 females), while the number of deaths registered in the same year reached 76,650 (32,312 females and 44,338 males), SANA reported.
