A North Carolina man convicted of murdering a prostitute is being freed after judges reviewing his case ruled the courts made a mistake in sending him to prison more than 16 years ago, according to AP. The ruling is the first win for North Carolina's innocence commission _ the only state-level panel of its kind in the nation. Greg Taylor's groundbreaking exoneration Wednesday comes after six days of hearings that questioned how state experts used evidence to convict him in 1993. The 47-year-old man Taylor always insisted he did not slay Jacquetta Thomas. Taylor has said he was on drugs at the time. Family and supporters broke into cheers when the decision was announced.
