Saudi newspapers comment on local, regional and international issues
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 23 - 01 - 2009

The Saudi newspapers commented today editorially on a number of local, regional and international topics.
On the local issues they underlined, in particular, the speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to Muslim Scholars (Ulema) and Muftis participating in the Makkah-based Int'l Conference on Fatwa and its general rules concluded earlier this week, stressing that his speech tackled directly and utterly the depth of the cause.
The papers quoted the Monarch's emphasizing the necessity of qualifying the Ulema and Muftis so that they can present Fataws compatible with the rules and basic regulations enjoyed by Ulema only.
The newspapers said also that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' referring to the media organs and their role in controlling the Fatwa is a conclusive evidence on the role of the media in influencing the large audience, which requires the responsibility of the media by not to publish Fatwas from people who are not known to be Ulema, especially through satellite channels.
They pointed out that this conference, which was attended by Ulemas and Muftis from all over the world was an inevitable result after the Islamic world started to witness a chaos in launching Fatwas and after some used the Fataws for instigating the differences and broadcasting irregular views that have lured some young people, as happened with those deceived to adopt their Takfiri (infidel), destructive and perverted ideas, leading not but only to a culture of death, violence and exclusion.
On another topic, the Saudi papers continued underscoring the lately-concluded Arab
Economic Summit in Kuwait, when they call Arab peoples to be more optimistic, pointing out that we, the Arabs, have started the step of the thousand miles from the land of Kuwait and through the deliberations of the Arab Economic Summit, which can, practically, be the beginning of the winds of change that have long awaited by more than 300 million Arabs.
They believe that it is high time to bid farewell the hollow slogans for ever, and turn to deeds, as the eminent nations around us do, describing the speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques at Kuwaiti Summit as an important document and a solid ground for overcoming discords, differences and restoring elements of power to start a new phase of building and developing the Arab world on scientific basis.
