The Health Ministry, represented by the department of laboratories and blood banks, has made available enough quantities of blood bags for the pilgrims of this year's Hajj season. More than 14 thousand units of blood and blood derivatives have been put at the disposal of the hospitals in the western region. These quantities of blood can meet the requirements of pilgrims ranging between three million to four million. Director General of laboratories and blood banks Ibrahim Al-Omran said in addition to the labrotaries of Jeddah there are labrotaries at the Holy Places for conducting routine medical check-up as well as making blood unit available for the pilgrims. H e noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia no longer imports blood from abroad, and the blood banks in the Kingdom depend on blood donation locally.
