The Ministry of Health stated that transport and storage of blood units and derivatives are subjected to scientific, technical and medical controls and mechanisms and their transport need conditions of special freezing and cooling temperatures so that blood units and derivatives do not get spoiled during transport affecting the safety of donated blood. Based on this fact and because transport of blood safely to Gaza is not possible now, officials of blood transfusion in the State of Palestine expressed a need for empty blood bags and not blood because a sufficient number of donors is available for them. The Ministry said that all required empty blood bags have been secured and are being sent to the State of Palestine in support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the people of the Gaza Strip. This explanation by the ministry comes in view of the growing desire by citizens and expatriates to donate blood for Palestinians in Gaza under the current circumstances.
