U.S. stocks rose on Wednesday. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 416.33, or 1.3 percent, to 3,812.50. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 63.98, or 1.6 percent, to 4,155.17, its highest level since June. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index rose 319.40, or 2.6 percent, to 12,668.16. Oil fell sharply, with losses accelerating after data showed U.S. crude and gasoline inventories surging unexpectedly. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures dropped $2.93, or 3.1 percent, to $91.49 a barrel.
